SULTAN QABOOS PORT TERMINAL
MUTRAH, MUSCAT

The project
As the premier Gateway to Muscat, the Sultan Qaboos Port Cruise Terminal brings together Oman’s maritime heritage with a contemporary architectural vision. The design draws inspiration from the fluid movement of the sea, expressed through sweeping rooflines, curved forms, and expansive glazed façades that create a distinctive presence along the waterfront.A lighthouse inspired control tower forms the project’s central landmark, rising against the dramatic backdrop of the Muttrah Mountains. Panoramic views of the Gulf of Oman reinforce the terminal’s connection to its coastal setting, while geometric screening and an earthy material palette reference the architectural character of the historic Corniche. The result is a contemporary gateway that celebrates Oman’s identity while providing an elevated arrival experience for international visitors.

SULTAN QABOOS PORT TERMINAL
Inside, the terminal is conceived as a vibrant cultural and hospitality hub rather than simply a point of transit. Soaring columns and generous ceiling heights create an open, light filled environment, while intuitive circulation guides visitors seamlessly through efficient processing areas into expansive lounges, premium retail spaces, and curated exhibition zones celebrating Omani craftsmanship.More than a transport facility, the development serves as an important catalyst for Muscat’s tourism and economic diversification. By connecting Oman’s maritime heritage with the future of international travel, the terminal revitalizes the historic port district and creates a distinctive waterfront gateway for visitors to experience the Sultanate’s culture and heritage.
