The project
A study in biophilic architecture, the design draws inspiration from the natural erosion of Oman’s sandstone canyons, creating a structure that reads less as a conventional building and more as a habitable landscape. Rather than imposing a rigid geometric form on its surroundings, the architecture unfolds through fluid, sedimentary layers that evoke formations shaped by desert winds and ancient waterways. The result is a dialogue between Oman’s geological heritage and a sustainable, technology driven future, where architecture is shaped by its environment and designed to exist in harmony with the landscape.

STRATA
At its core, the project challenges the conventional glass box office typology, using parametric design to develop organic overhangs that provide passive solar protection. These sculpted forms reduce heat gain from the intense Gulf sun while filtering natural light into the workspaces, creating a more comfortable and energy efficient interior environment. The architecture is conceived as an extension of the site, creating a seamless transition between the rugged landscape and refined interiors. Drawing inspiration from the region’s wadis, a central water basin acts as both a thermal regulator and a social focal point. Incorporating recycled greywater, it helps establish a cooler microclimate while introducing a sense of calm and connection to nature throughout the development.
